Essendo nato in una famiglia musicale, Marty Rivers si trovò coinvolto nel mondo della musica da subito. A 13 anni prese parte ad un concorso canoro nella sua isola nativa di Malta vincendo con la sua interpretazione di “It’s Only Make Believe”, il classico di Conway Twitty. Da notare che Marty era l’unico adolescente in gara contro artisti adulti.
Fu allora che formò la sua prima band ed iniziò ad esibirsi in numerosi locali, prima a Malta e poi a Londra, dove vinse un premio internazionale presso il Trocadero (Londra). Fu l’inizio di un viaggio che gli ha portato successo e lo reso l’artista che é oggi.
Nonostante la passione per il country era insita in lui sin da bambino, Marty ha anche esplorato altri generi che gli hanno dato la versatilità che pervade la sua musica, sia come compositore che come cantante.
La sua prima raccolta di inediti intitolata “Marty Rivers”, diede alla luce due singoli che si posizionarono nei piani alti delle classifiche musicali radiofoniche, tra queste la canzone gospel “The Lord Is Coming Soon”. Quest’ultima raggiunse la pole position nella God’s Country International Music charts e la American Gospel Music charts.
Il secondo disco di Marty, intitolato “Out of the Blue”, fu prodotto a Nashville da Gary Carter, famoso suonatore di steel guitar nonché membro della Grand Ole Opry. Gary ha prodotto artisti quali Randy Travis e Faith Hill. Anche in questa seconda uscita musicale tutti i brani presenti furono scritti da Marty insieme a Joe Spiteri. Questi ultimi sono brani che riflettono le varie influenze musicali di Marty. Diverse tracce di questo suo lavoro vennero pubblicati come singoli radiofonici, tra queste “Made in Mexico” un’altro brano che raggiunse la vetta in più classifiche e “Call Colorado”, che fu votata come una delle migliori canzone nel 2008 durante il Music Row Songwriters Festival a Nashville.
Fu a questo punto che venne invitato ad esibirsi durante il corso del CMA Musical Festival dove ricevette molteplici complimenti per la sua performance.
Tornando alla sua terra nativa, ottenne un riconoscimento dal Malta Music Awards Committee sotto forma di premio come miglior artista internazionale (International Achievement Award).
Il terzo disco di Marty, “Midnight Sky” fu registrato nuovamente a Nashville, sempre con Gary Carter alla regia e ottenne un grande successo dalla critica. Anche in questo caso il disco brilla per la sua versatilità. Diverse tracce di questo disco, quali “Midnight Sky”e “Run Angel Run” si sono piazzate al top di più classifiche radiofoniche.
Dopo essere stato lontano dallo studio di registrazione per qualche tempo, durante l’estate del 2018, Marty si é messo a lavorare al suo progetto più ambizioso: 14 canzoni inedite che ha composto con il suo collaboratore di vecchia data, Joe Spiteri. Questa nuova uscita, “Maltese Falcon”, é stato registrata a Nashville da Gary Carter insieme ai miglior musicisti che il genere possa offrire. Il primo singolo, “Why Don’t You” si é piazzato alla prima posizione nella Ramgatie Top 40 Charts a Gennaio.

Being born in a musical family, singer-songwriter Marty Rivers was drawn into music from a very early age by listening attentively to his grandfather playing the guitar and immersing himself in his father’s record collection.
At the age of 13, young Marty took part in a singing contest in his native island of Malta and won with the Conway Twitty classic “It’s only make Believe” despite being the only non-adult participant. It was around this time that Marty formed his first band and started performing in various bars and venues all over. It was the beginning of a long road that has nonetheless brought him success and helped him develop into the artist he is today.
Although his passion for country music has been within him since childhood, he has ventured into other musical genres which developed in him a sense of versatility that is so evident in his music today, both as a songwriter and also as a performer.
The first collection of original songs was released in Marty’s debut self-titled album “Marty Rivers” with two of its tracks charting high on various European Country Music charts.
In 2008, Marty released the album “Out of the Blue”, produced in Nashville by Gary Carter who worked with world known artists such as Randy Travis and Faith Hill. This was another set of songs all written by Marty himself along with Joe Spiteri, songs that reflect the various musical influences that left such a blueprint on Marty’s music.
Various tracks from the album were released as radio singles, all of them charting high on various charts including the song “Made in Mexico” which went to number 1 on J. Ramgatie Country music International Top 40, the spiritual Blinded an American Gospel top 10 hit and “Call Colorado”, voted as a top song during the 2008 Music Row Songwriters Festival in Nashville.
In November 2010, the self-penned gospel song “The Lord is coming soon”, originally recorded on Marty’s first album, reached the number 1 spot on the God’s Country International Music charts and number 3 on the American Gospel Music charts.
At the 2011 Go Malta Music Awards Marty was awarded the International Achievement Award.
Marty’s third album “Midnight Sky”, recorded in Nashville, and produced once again by Gary Carter received rave reviews from critics. It is a set of twelve songs that once again show the versatility in Marty’s music. A number of these songs charted high on various radio charts, some even made it all the way to the top spot of the European Country Music Charts, the Ramgatie International Country Music Charts and the GTE International Country and Gospel Music Charts.
After some time away from the recording studio, in early Summer 2018, Marty started working on what it turns to be his most ambitious project so far; 14 original songs, which he co-wrote with his longtime collaborator, Joe Spiteri. The new album “Maltese Falcon”, was once again produced in Nashville by Gary Carter and it features some of the best musicians Nashville has to offer. It’s been very well received and praised by many and the first single from the album, “Why Don’t You” topped the Ramgatie Top 40 Charts in the month of January.
